Massachusetts

We went on a road-trip in New England during June 2023. Massachusetts was our fourth stop, and we visited Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod’s Nauset Lighthouse, Provincetown, Plymouth, Boston, Cambridge, and Salem. Here is a video of some of our time there.

Massachusetts is a state rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Here are some top travel recommendations:

Boston: Walk the Freedom Trail to explore 16 historical sites, including Faneuil Hall and Paul Revere’s House. Don’t miss the Boston Common, the oldest public park in the U.S., and the bustling Quincy Market.

Cape Cod: Known for its stunning beaches and charming towns, Cape Cod is perfect for a summer getaway. Visit the Cape Cod National Seashore and enjoy activities like whale watching and biking.

Salem: Famous for the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, this town offers a mix of history and spooky attractions. Visit the Salem Witch Museum and the House of the Seven Gables.

The Berkshires: This region is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and art lovers. Enjoy hiking, skiing, and visiting cultural institutions like the Norman Rockwell Museum and Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket: These islands are perfect for a relaxing escape with beautiful beaches, quaint villages, and excellent seafood. Martha’s Vineyard is known for its charming towns, while Nantucket offers a more secluded feel.

Plymouth: Visit Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II to learn about the Pilgrims’ landing in 1620. Plimoth Patuxet Museums offer a living history experience of the early colonial period.

Minute Man National Historical Park: Located in Concord and Lexington, this park commemorates the opening battles of the American Revolutionary War. Walk the Battle Road Trail and visit the North Bridge.

Harvard University: Take a tour of this prestigious Ivy League university in Cambridge. The Harvard Museum of Natural History and the Harvard Art Museums are also worth a visit.

Gloucester and Rockport: These coastal towns offer picturesque harbors, art galleries, and fresh seafood. Gloucester is also a great spot for whale watching.

Worcester: Explore the Worcester Art Museum and the EcoTarium, a science and nature museum. The city also has a vibrant food scene and plenty of parks.

These are just a few highlights. Massachusetts has something for everyone, whether you’re interested in history, outdoor activities, or simply relaxing by the coast.
