When we lived in Pittsburgh, we would find our way to NYC often for a long weekend or football game road-trip. We also made an effort to see the ball drop in December 2016 and 2017. Our best recommendation for that involves booking a hotel at Times Square so you do not have to wait outside all day.
We went on a road-trip in New England during June 2023. Before we hit the road, we flew into New York. Here is a video of some of our time there.
Don’t forget that you can visit Niagara from the New York side too, which is still pretty impressive; but, definitely make time to hop over to Canada too while you’re there.
