South Korea

This was a surprise favorite on our way to Thailand in November 2019. We were able to visit the DMZ while we were in town, and the city was more impressive than we had expected. Here is a video of some of our time there.

Seoul is a vibrant and diverse city that offers a lot of attractions and experiences for travelers. Whether you are interested in culture, history, shopping, entertainment, or nature, you will find something to suit your taste in Seoul. Here are some possible travel recommendations for Seoul, based on different themes and durations:

-If you have one day in Seoul and want to see the traditional side of the city, you can visit Bukchon Hanok Village, where you can see the old-style Korean houses and experience the local culture. You can also visit Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest and most impressive royal palace in Seoul, where you can watch the changing of the guard ceremony and explore the beautiful gardens. For some souvenir shopping and cultural activities, you can head to Insadong, a neighborhood that is famous for its antique shops, art galleries, tea houses, and street performances.

-If you have two days in Seoul and want to see the modern side of the city, you can visit Myeongdong, one of the most popular shopping districts in Seoul, where you can find everything from cosmetics and fashion to street food and cafes. You can also visit Lotte World, a huge indoor and outdoor amusement park that has thrilling rides, shows, and attractions for all ages. For some nightlife and entertainment, you can head to Hongdae, a trendy area that is known for its clubs, bars, live music, and street art.

-If you have three days or more in Seoul and want to see the natural side of the city, you can take a day trip to Nami Island, a scenic island that is famous for its tree-lined paths, gardens, and wildlife. You can also take a day trip to Everland, another large amusement park that has a zoo, a safari, and a botanical garden. For hiking and panoramic views, you can head to Namsan Seoul Tower, a landmark tower on top of a mountain offering a 360-degree view of the city.

These are just some of the many places to visit in Seoul, but there are many more to discover and enjoy. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
